Inspirations (2025)
Selections of sounds, words and visions that moved and inspired
In this “Inspiration” series I share selections of what I have been listening to, reading, watching or exploring. You may find brief notes from me here and there, but these posts are primarily logs of music albums, songs, books, articles and arts.
Hi everyone,
It has been a little more quiet here on my newsletter lately. I have been focussed on a number of new projects, including the online course starting next week, and even some new music of my own to be published soonish.
I will say more about these things in a later post. Here for this post I feel excited to share some of my favourite, most enjoyed, most played music from 2025.
Some of these are artists that I discovered freshly this year, whereas others are new releases by artists I have been following for years. Some others are simply old precious gems from my library that I returned to this year after quite some time with renewed appreciation.
The focus of this post is exclusively on the auditory. No words, just music. Just streams of songs that enriched my life in 2025 in various ways.
And to introduce and promote some artists that I believe are doing something precious and should absolutely be tasted by more people.
Because life is too precious to drink cheap wine, and if one thing is for sure is that I keep being mind-blown by both the ancient and contemporary musical creations that continue to cross my path.
It was therefore hard to select and shortlist this music, and I ended up pruning extensively. But here we are. The list is organised loosely from top to bottom, from the more slow and subtle to the more energetic and intense.
That you may find some new resonant sonic sparks yourself, amongst these. And above all I am wishing everyone peace, health, inspiration and love for this new year of spinning around that lies ahead of us.

+1 on Kali Malone. I saw her play some pieces from that album at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church last year
Aiko Takahashi, Taylor Deupree, and Steve Roden are my favorites. I'm trying to find the specific sub-genre of dark experimental that I'm so picky about. Your latest releases absolutely fit into whatever it is.
